Meet the people behind Counselling for Growth

We are a small, friendly team with nearly two decades of experience between us. Here is a little about each of us, in our own words.

Del Wheeler

Psychotherapist & Supervisor

Del Wheeler

I have 19 years of experience as a psychotherapist, having completed my postgraduate qualification in integrative psychotherapy and counselling in 2006.

I started my career in social care, where I supported clients with all sorts of challenges, including behavioural and emotional difficulties, addiction, trauma, loss and grief. That experience deepened my understanding of people, and I am continually inspired by the resilience, strength and courage of the human spirit.

Since 2021 I have concentrated on my private practice while reducing my work in social care. My experience, knowledge and insight allow me to offer a broad range of support within a warm, nurturing environment.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of modern approaches within psychotherapy and counselling. I achieved my accreditation as a Counsellor-Supervisor in 2019, and I have supported other counsellors through supervision ever since.

Sandra Wheeler

Integrative Therapist

Sandra Wheeler

I have 19 years of professional experience as a counsellor, and I have helped many people with trauma, abuse, addiction, relationships, depression and anxiety.

In past roles I have facilitated women's therapeutic groups, and I have a real passion for self-empowerment, for men as well as women. I work with you to create a safe, open and non-judgemental space where your thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be explored.

I work in an integrative way, combining different therapeutic models to suit you as an individual. I spent over 23 years working in mental health, and I now concentrate on my private practice, which I have been doing for the past two years.

Katie Howard

Company Administrator

Katie Howard

As Company Administrator, I bring a warm, people-focused approach to supporting both our team and our clients. Alongside my role here, I also work as a Wellbeing Coordinator, supporting older adults in a holistic and personalised way to help them reach their goals.

That work has deepened my commitment to creating supportive, accessible spaces where people feel heard and valued.

I have a degree in Forensic Science, which reflects my dedication, attention to detail and ability to manage complex information, all qualities that help me in this role. I am genuinely passionate about supporting others, and I am committed to making sure that every client's experience with our practice is positive, welcoming and well-supported.
