Grief counselling, for whenever you are ready

Losing someone or something you love can leave you feeling all over the place. Grief counselling gives you a calm, kind space to talk it through, in person in Devon or online from anywhere in the world.

What it is

A quiet space to sit with your loss

Grief is what happens when something you love is gone. Most people think of it after a death, and that is a big part of it. But grief can also follow other losses, like the end of a marriage, saying goodbye to a much loved pet, or a life that has changed in a way you did not choose. All of it counts, and all of it can hurt.

Grief counselling is simply time set aside for you to talk, with someone who is not going to rush you or tell you how you should feel. We listen, we stay with the hard bits, and we go at your pace. There is no script and no fixed number of sessions you have to sign up for.

We see people in person at our rooms in Teignmouth, Devon, and we also work online by video or WhatsApp. That means you can talk to us from the New Forest, Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol, Hampshire, anywhere across the South West, or honestly from anywhere in the world. Wherever you are, you can reach us.

How it can help

What grief counselling can help with

Grief shows up in lots of different ways. Here are some of the things people bring to us.

Losing someone you love

The death of a partner, parent, child, sibling or close friend. A space to talk about them and about how you are coping without them.

Grief that gets stuck

Sometimes grief feels frozen, or it arrives long after the loss. We can gently help you understand what is going on and find a way through.

Hard dates and anniversaries

Birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas can hit hard, even years on. We can help you get ready for them and support you through them.

After an illness

Whether the loss came suddenly or after a long illness, the grief that follows can be complicated. There is room here for all of it.

Losing a pet

For many of us a pet is family. Losing one is a real loss, and your grief deserves to be taken seriously.

Loss through divorce

The end of a marriage or relationship is its own kind of grief. We can help you sit with that and work out what comes next.

How we work

How the sessions actually work

1

Start with a free 15-minute call

Before anything else, you can have a free 15-minute chat with us. It is a no-pressure way to ask questions, hear a friendly voice and see how it feels. If it does not feel like the right fit, that is completely fine.

You can call, email or send us a message on WhatsApp. Katie, our administrator, is usually the first person you will speak to, and she is lovely.

2

In person in Devon, or online anywhere

You can come and see us in person in Teignmouth, or we can meet online by video or WhatsApp. The online sessions work just as well, and they mean you can talk to us from home, wherever home is.

3

At your own pace, for as long as you need

There is no fixed plan you have to commit to. Some people come for a few sessions, others stay longer. We follow your lead, and everything you share stays confidential.

Who it is for

This might be right for you if

There is no wrong reason to reach out. You might recognise yourself in some of these.

You feel lost since the loss

and you are not sure how to carry on with everyday life.

People expect you to be over it

but you are not, and you feel like you cannot say that out loud.

The grief keeps catching you off guard

at certain dates, places or songs, often when you least expect it.

You never really grieved properly

and it feels like it is all still sitting there, waiting.

You are grieving something other than a death

like a divorce, a beloved pet or a big change you did not choose.

You just want to talk to someone kind

who will listen without judging you or rushing you.

When you are ready, we are here

There is no pressure and no commitment to start. Book a free 15-minute call or send us a message on WhatsApp, and we will take it from there, gently and at your pace.

Common questions

Questions people often ask

If something is on your mind before getting in touch, here are the things people most often ask us.

Is there a right way or a right time to grieve?

No. Grief looks different for everyone and there is no timeline you are meant to stick to. Some days are heavier than others, and that can carry on for a long time. Whatever you are feeling is allowed.

How soon after a loss should I start grief counselling?

Whenever feels right for you. Some people reach out in the early days, others come months or even years later when the grief resurfaces. There is no too early and no too late.

Can you help if my grief feels stuck or came much later than expected?

Yes. Grief that feels frozen, complicated or delayed is more common than people think. We can gently help you understand it and find a way to move with it rather than around it.

I am dreading Christmas and the anniversary. Can counselling help with that?

It really can. Birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas often bring grief flooding back. We can help you prepare for those days and be alongside you through them.

Do you only work with people in Devon?

Not at all. We see people in person in Teignmouth and across Devon, and we work online by video or WhatsApp with people in Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol, the New Forest, Hampshire, the wider South West and worldwide. Wherever you are, we can meet.

Does grief counselling cover pet loss and divorce too?

Yes. Losing a pet is a genuine loss, and so is the end of a marriage. Both can leave you grieving, and both are welcome here. You do not need to justify why a loss matters to you.

Still have a question? We are happy to talk it through, with no pressure either way.
