Trauma therapy that goes at your pace

If something frightening or overwhelming still affects you, you do not have to carry it on your own. We offer gentle, paced trauma therapy in person in Devon and online wherever you are.

What it is

A safe place to make sense of things

Trauma is what can happen when something frightening, painful or overwhelming leaves a lasting mark on you. It might come from one event, like an accident or an assault, or from something that went on for a long time. Whatever shape it takes, it can affect how you feel, how you sleep, how you cope and how safe you feel in everyday life. Trauma therapy gives you a calm, private space to slowly make sense of it, with someone steady beside you.

Sometimes the roots go a long way back. Childhood trauma, the things that happened when you were too young to understand or do anything about them, can still shape your adult life in quiet ways: how you trust people, how you react under stress, the patterns you keep finding yourself in. We work gently with all of this, and we never ask you to relive anything before you are ready.

Del and Sandra have been working with people for nearly two decades. We see clients in person at our practice in Teignmouth, Devon, and online by video or WhatsApp, so you can work with us from anywhere. Wherever you are, the same care applies: confidential, non-judgemental, and at a pace that feels right for you.

How it can help

What trauma therapy can help with

Trauma shows up in different ways for different people. Here are some of the things we often help with.

PTSD

Flashbacks, nightmares, feeling on edge or numb after a frightening event. We help you settle these reactions and feel more in control again.

Abuse

Support for the effects of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, in your own time and only as far as you want to go.

Accidents & shock

Car crashes, falls, medical emergencies or other sudden events that left you shaken and changed how you feel day to day.

Childhood trauma

Difficult or frightening early experiences that still affect how you feel, trust and cope as an adult.

Feeling unsafe or on guard

That constant sense of being braced for something bad, struggling to relax, or not feeling safe in your own body.

Coping that has stopped working

When old ways of getting through, like shutting down, keeping busy or avoiding things, are starting to wear you out.

How we work

How trauma therapy works with us

1

We start slowly and safely

The first thing we do is help you feel safe. We are not in any rush, and you are always in charge of what we talk about and when. You will never be pushed to go into something painful before you feel ready.

Most people begin with a free 15-minute call so you can get a feel for us and ask anything you like, with no pressure to book.

2

We work with the whole picture

Our approach is integrative, which simply means we blend proven ways of working and shape them around you, rather than fitting you into one fixed method. Some of what we draw on helps calm the body and the nervous system, and some helps you understand where things come from, including earlier or childhood experiences.

3

In person in Devon, or online anywhere

You can see us face to face at our practice in Teignmouth, Devon, or meet online by video or WhatsApp from home. Online sessions are just as private and just as warm, and they make trauma therapy possible whether you are in the South West, elsewhere in the UK, or further afield.

Common questions

Trauma therapy questions, answered

If something is on your mind before getting in touch, here are the things people most often ask us.

Will I have to talk about what happened?

Not until you are ready, and not in any more detail than you choose. A lot of useful work happens by helping you feel safe and steady first. You stay in charge of what we talk about and when, every step of the way.

What is trauma therapy, in plain terms?

It is talking therapy with someone trained to support the effects of frightening or overwhelming experiences. We help you understand what is happening for you, calm the reactions that come with trauma, and slowly feel more like yourself again, at a pace that suits you.

Can early or childhood experiences really still affect me now?

Yes, they often can. Things that happened when you were young, before you could make sense of them, can quietly shape how you trust, cope and react as an adult. We work gently with childhood trauma and how it connects to what you are feeling today.

Does online trauma therapy actually work?

It does. Many people find online sessions just as helpful as meeting in person, and sometimes more comfortable because they are in their own space. We see clients online by video or WhatsApp wherever they are, so distance is not a barrier.

Do I have to be in Devon to work with you?

No. We see people in person at our practice in Teignmouth, and online from Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol, Hampshire, the New Forest, across the South West and worldwide. You can work with us from anywhere with a private space and a connection.

How do I start?

Start with a free 15-minute call. It is a relaxed chat so you can ask questions and see how it feels to talk to us, with no pressure to book anything. You can also message us on WhatsApp if that is easier.

Still have a question? We are happy to talk it through, with no pressure either way.
